The Black-Female-Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences-President, Cheryl Boone Isaacs, stated after the Oscar-nominee-announcements, “the all-white acting slate inspires me to accelerate the academy’s push to be more inclusive.” and “hopes the film industry as a whole will continue to strive for greater diversity.” (Does anyone else see the irony?)
Last year the poignant film “12 Years a Slave” swept the Oscars with the movie winning “Best Film of the Year”. The film, based on the book of the same name, was directed and produced by the very talented Steve McQeen (the Black gentlemen, not the deceased legendary actor). In addition Lupita Nyong’O won the award for “Best Supporting Actress” for her work in the film.
In fact if you examine the last 5 years of the Academy Awards, one would discover a list of “diverse” nominees and winners including the brilliant Denzil Washington, the lovely Octavia Spencer., the legendary Morgan Freeman, the vivacious Mo’Nique and many more.
Ms. Boone-Isaacs is not the only complaining commentator regarding the nominations, besides film critics, Salon.com, and a few more, Al Sharpton declared that “an emergency meeting” must take place. An emergency? Why, was there a terrorist threat against the film academy? Perhaps a ‘sniper’?
Since Clint Eastwood was an outspoken critic of Obama and supported the GOP Presidential ticket back in 2012, I suspect with his film “American Sniper” earning several nominations including Best Picture, Best Actor, and Best Editing, this caused some disturbance within Sharpton and others.. (Frankly, I think it is more perplexing that the film earned almost every other nomination, except for Best Director.)
Will Sharpton and all the other ‘judges’ demand for the call of “an emergency meeting” and diversity after the announcements for the Black Entertainment Television, the Black Vine Entertainment, the American Latino Media Arts, or the Latin Grammy Awards? I suspect not. I understand groups wanting to reward their ‘own’ communities and honestly have no issue with the various award shows, But since there is no Caucasian Entertainment Awards (and if one existed, there would be national outrage from special interest groups, politicians, media, and Hollywood), the Academy Awards should be the one show for which TALENT and NOT “race or diversity” be the ONLY criteria.
Now if the Oscars turns into a campaign for ‘race and diversity’ instead of artistry in the future, then it would be only fair for a Caucasian only awards show just like every other group; otherwise the entertainment community becomes just another oppressed, hypocritical, judgmental community – instead of the “free speech”, diverse community they claim to magnify.
Amid all the Academy backlash, the Oprah Winfrey produced “Selma” has been nominated for Best Picture. Perhaps the real outcry is due to the fact none of “Selma’s” actors were nominated for any of the acting categories. Since the Hollywood community is really “left of center” in both social issues and politics, I am more inclined to believe the work and the ‘inside-Hollywood Studio-campaign to be nominated’ vs. “racism” are closer to the truth.
SELMA is an historical-drama based on the 1965 Civil Rights March lead by the distinguished Martin Luther King, Jr. As we honor King’s birthday this weekend after a year of ‘hoodies’, Ferguson, riots/looting and rantings from Sharpton,Jackson,Holder and Obama, “civil rights” is back at the top of discussions. In fact based on the numerous entertainment, media, and political reports, one is expected to believe we are back living in the chattel slavery days with all ‘white’ people wearing pointy hoods and burning crosses on lawns.
Is this the truth? The President of the United States, the hit ABC show “Black-ish”, top current Billboard artists – Beyonce, Nick Minaj, Big Sean, Usher (and many more), hit film SELMA, the NBA, the NFL….seriously does a list even need to be created?!!
According to the latest *U.S. Census statics 62..6% of America is ‘white’ while 17.1% are Hispanic or Latino, 13.2% are Black or African American, 5.3% Asian, 1.2% are Native American Indian, and 2.6% are a mixture of other races. Considering these statistics, there is a higher than proportional representation of minority races in media, entertainment, and politics.
While the chanting of “Black Lives Matter” sweeps the nation (and I agree – in fact all lives matter), there is a disturbing statistic which cites the Black community possesses the highest rate of abortion.* Approximately 2/3 of all abortions are unfortunately amongst the minority populations.
Furthermore, in contrast to public accusations, racial crimes are not an epidemic in America.* In fact the opposite, every race seems to victimize their own race. In addition, staying true to the U.S. population, whites commit the most crimes in America today.
So why all the charges of “racism” growing louder? Plain and simple – AGENDA! Hitler’s Nazi Propaganda Minister, Joseph Goebbels boldly stated, “If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.”**
One of the Marxism theories insists in the derision of any ruling class and eroding any type of higher economic class. In fact American social and racial community organizer, Saul Alinsky stated in his first of 12 “Rules for Radicals”: RULE 1: “Power is not only what you have, but what the enemy thinks you have. Power is derived from 2 main sources – money and people. “Have-Nots” must build power from flesh and blood.”
Recently a flyer* was posted up at a BART station in the San Francisco Bay area which demanded a communist revolution across America. The posting stated “…having a Black president does not change shit for us…” and a a couple sentences later demanded a call for “….overthrowing the capitalist-imperialist system…”. Photos and videos from post Ferguson riots across the country showed communist organization signs proving they were leading the charges attempting to incite race wars.
In addition, to the current radical agenda, back in 1871, Albert Pike, considered an historic Freemason leader, wrote a letter drafting a plan for three major wars to result in both an economic disaster and a ‘new world order’.* An excerpt from the letter proves ‘communism’ was a tool to accomplish the feat: “At the end of the (first) war, Communism will be built and used in order to destroy the other governments and in order to weaken the religions.” The ‘second war’ portion cites the following: “…International Communism must become strong enough in order to balance Christendom, which would be then restrained and held in check until the time when we would need it for the final social cataclysm.” And the third war part of the letter states: “…..Then everywhere, the citizens, obliged to defend themselves against the world minority of revolutionaries, will exterminate those destroyers of civilization, and the multitude, disillusioned with Christianity, whose deistic spirits will from that moment be without compass or direction, anxious for an ideal, but without knowing where to render its adoration, will receive the true light through the universal manifestation of the pure doctrine of Lucifer, brought finally out in the public view.”
Christians should not be shocked with Pike’s plan since scripture clearly warns us that Satan is the Great Deceiver, Divider, and Liar. John 8:44: “..He (Satan) was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies. ” Revelation 12:9: “…the serpent of old who is called the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world….”
Now I am not suggesting that racism does not exist, because then I would be no better than the propagandists, however from my daily experiences I see love and unity amongst the majority, However unfortunately hate does exist in the world and has since the very beginning of time. In fact, contrary to a Duke University Professor’s claim – ALL races, not just whites, possess ‘racism’ against others. Period!
When I was 8 years old, my first ‘boyfriend’ was Anthony. Of course at the age of 8 it was a completely innocent relationship which really meant we had “puppy love crushes” and holding hands was really the extent of it. We walked home from school with each other daily, sometimes holding hands. No one flinched until one day Anthony’s grandmother noticed us holding hands. She literally shouted at the top of her lungs, “Anthony drop that white girl’s hand.”. It scared the both of us and I ran all the way home crying. My parents comforted me, but I just could not understand. After this incident, Anthony never spoke to me again.
Fast forward a decade later, my best friend Lisa and I were sitting in an audience for a live show taping when suddenly the three women behind us shunned Lisa for “sitting with a white girl instead of her own…”. Not too long after this incident, a group of Black girls, ganged up on me in a grocery store parking lot shouting “white bitch” and other hate-filled words. I did not know these girls at all. Thankfully some men stopped them and I was able to hold my own.
A few years back, I was invited to participate in “The Black Round Table Discussions”. I was honored. But the very first week a lady took one look at me and said “What is she doing here? She does not belong here.” She was informed that I was an invited friend. She stormed off and never returned. Unfortunately there was yet another incident when my friend Ted Hayes and I were walking down Crenshaw Blvd. together. A store owner and a couple employees who were sitting outside their music business sternly declared, “You cannot come into the store”. We had no intentions of entering their business, but both of us were curious why such a declaration was made. The owner quipped back, “Because no honky is allowed.” Stunned, I replied, “So you are a racist?.” He retorted with an enthusiastic, “YES”. (Well at least he was honest.)
At some point in one’s life, they will experience hate whether it be due to skin color, gender, faith, viewpoints, nationality, etc…Absolutely no one is immune. However the Good News is one day “All will profess He is Lord” – all will love! All will realize we are ALL brothers and sisters of the SAME family under God! God is truth, love, and unity!
Rocker Alice Cooper recently concluded in an interview “The world belongs to Satan”. Clearly we are seeing signs of this being true. For those readers who are ‘believers”, it is time to pray for truth, awareness, love, and unity in our world. For those who do not share our faith, it is time to stop listening to propaganda and share the truth, which the ‘state’ opposes, instead.
Philip II, King of Macedon, is often credited for the statement, “Divide and conquer.”. Albert Pike, the Communist movement, the “state’, and Satan all share this same agenda. Thus, “we the people” must unite in TRUTH! Martin Luther King, Jr. shared “his dream’ and today we must carry out the dream of love, equality, forgiveness, and oneness!
Perhaps it is disappointing to many that none of the SELMA actors were nominated for an Oscar this year, however this is no “state of emergency” as far more concerns are of pressing matter like terrorism, economy, poverty, and child abuse. We as united people should concentrate on these more pressing issues instead of focusing on lies and distortions.
